Executive Coaching
with Dr Gary Crotaz, PhD
“… Unlock Your Maximum Leadership Potential …”
Dr Gary Crotaz, PhD
I’m an executive coach, speaker, podcaster, and author on leadership. I coined the term The Unlock Moment: a rare moment of complete clarity, not about doing, but about knowing. That knowing becomes the foundation of “leadership aplomb”, the composure, confidence, and presence others instinctively trust.
I work with CEOs and C-suite leaders around the world at moments of real consequence. My clients are already successful and come to me when they want to move from achievement to mastery … when judgement, identity, and how they show up as leaders matter as much as results.
I host The Unlock Moment podcast, downloaded in 130 countries, and speak globally on leadership mastery and high-performance culture. Alongside my coaching, I advise a small number of organisations on leadership, governance, and operating model challenges during periods of growth and transformation.
I’m the author of The IDEA Mindset (Henley Business School Coaching Book of the Year) and the forthcoming The Unlock Moment: From Success to Leadership Mastery. I’m also honoured to be a member of the New York-based 100 Coaches Agency.

FAQs
What kinds of people do you coach?
I coach CEOs and C-suite leaders in some of the world’s largest and most complex organisations, alongside a small number of senior and high-potential leaders preparing for roles of greater scale and consequence.
My clients are already successful. They come to me when performance alone is no longer the question … when judgement, presence, and how they lead others truly matter. Many are navigating pivotal moments: stepping into larger roles, leading through complexity or change, or refining the leadership identity they will be known for.
I work globally and across sectors, having coached leaders in more than 25 countries. What unites my clients is not ambition alone, but a readiness for deeper clarity … the kind that underpins “leadership aplomb” and enables them to lead with confidence, composure, and impact.
What benefits will I experience from coaching?
Coaching with me is not about motivation or outsourcing the work. It’s for leaders who are ready to engage seriously, reflect deeply, and take responsibility for their own development … both in our sessions and between them.
Those who do benefit most often describe a step-change in clarity … a deeper understanding of who they are as leaders, what they stand for, and how they are experienced by others. From that clarity comes stronger judgement, greater influence, and a calm authority in high-stakes situations.
My clients don’t leave with tactics alone. They leave with a clearer inner compass … one that enables leadership aplomb, sharper decision-making, and sustained impact as the scale and pressure of their role increases.
Where do your coaching clients work?
I work approximately 50:50 with corporate clients and private individuals. Some example companies that current and former coaching clients work for include: Amazon, Rothschild & Co, ASOS, Bank of England. I am an associate coach with Heidrick & Struggles, OC&C Strategy Consultants and others.
How much does coaching cost?
I operate a sliding scale for coaching according to seniority and whether your employer is paying or you are paying privately. I offer a clean and clear ‘price per scheduled hour’ coaching model and also offer a monthly coaching retainer for senior clients. Coaching is a significant investment but it should feel excellent value for money for the benefits you experience. Contact me for further details.
How often do we work together?
It’s entirely flexible according to the individual needs of the coachee, but most commonly I work with clients for 1 to 1.5 hours every 3-4 weeks. Frequency and duration of sessions can be adjusted as we go to ensure coaching meets your needs and budget.
How many sessions do I need?
Coaching is very personal. Some clients need only one or a handful of sessions. Others gain incremental benefit from coaching over a significant period of time, sometimes many years. I am not a great believer in lengthy coaching engagements that can easily start to drift, so I like to work in short arcs of 3 to 6 sessions with clear objectives and goals that we reassess regularly, typically every 3 months. Even where I have worked with clients over a number of years, we use these short arcs and regular review to stay tightly focused on objectives.
How is coaching delivered?
Almost all my coaching is delivered online over Zoom, or I can work with your virtual meetings platform of choice. Where possible I try to meet coaching clients in person at least once in the coaching journey, but I find that the best coaching happens when you are relaxed and not distracted, and most commonly this happens when you are at home. I coach in the daytime, often in the evening and sometimes at weekends to suit specific client needs. I myself am based in the UK but I coach in any and all time zones.
How do I know you are the right coach for me?
Before embarking on a coaching partnership, we meet for a free, confidential and no-commitment session, called a ‘chemistry conversation’. We get to meet each other and discuss why you are exploring coaching and what you want to get out of it. It is good practice to meet ideally two other coaches to help you understand more about different coaching approaches and decide what you need. The three key questions are: 1. is it coaching I need, 2. is now the right time for coaching, and 3. are you the right coach for me? Check out the book ‘Becoming Coachable‘ for more information on how to get the most out of coaching and how to find a coach.
